Congratulations to our LULAC women advocates! Thank you for your contribution and leadership in our communities. March is Women’s History Month. This year’s national theme is “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations.”
Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture and society. It has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987. However, it has been celebrated internationally since 1911.
Women’s rights are an integral part of LULAC’s mission. Worldwide, there are slightly more men than women. In the United States it is the opposite; there are slightly more females than males. As people age, the female population surpasses males.
Women’s full and equal participation in all facets of society is a fundamental human and civil right. Yet, around the world, from politics to entertainment to the workplace, women and girls are largely underrepresented. We must work harder to achieve gender equity.
The LULAC Women’s Commission understands that through education, economic advancement, leadership development and political empowerment women can positively impact change in their communities. Women and girls are critical to finding solutions to the biggest challenges we face today. Their perspectives and choices should be valued and celebrated. They reflect our future.
The 2025 LULAC’s Women Conference will be held jointly with the National Convention. It will take place in Long Beach, California in early August. The Women’s track of the convention will highlight Latina’s accomplishments in public service, and share personal stories of women who have overcome adversity. The conference gathers distinguished leaders and experts to discuss important issues to women’s health, entrepreneurship, leadership and civil mobilization.
“Empowering the Next Generation” is the theme of the 2025 National Convention. It reflects LULAC’s centuries-long commitment to civil rights and empowerment. It is rooted in our history of fighting injustice and pioneering change. This theme reflects our commitment to educating women and men to become the leaders of tomorrow. Every year LULAC members come together to advocate for progress. We recognize the importance of mentorship and inspiration in fostering future leaders. From advocating for fair labor conditions to establishing educational initiatives, LULAC has always sought to advocate and defend our Hispanic communities.
